Compliance with corporate identification standards is required. Refer to the
Corporate Identification Manual for details. Below are highlights of the
identification requirements and best practices for Using Children's Signature
on the Web. All references to the signature also apply to the Business
Unit "Lock-up."
- First, determine whether the Children's Signature alone or your Business
Unit "Lock-up" is the appropriate one to use.
- The area of isolation must be maintained.
This is an area of empty space on each side of the signature equal
to at least one-fifth the diameter of the Logo. All text,
graphic elements, and edges of the browser window must not infringe
on this area.
- The signature must appear sharp and clean. An undithered
GIF format works the best. Do not over-optimize. Do not
resize and then re-optimize a GIF file. Edit an RGB TIF image
instead.
- Do not resize the Logo within your HTML editing program or code
to make it fit your space. Instead, adjust your layout or resize the
graphic in a graphics-editing program from an RGB TIF image.
- When resizing the signature, be careful that the Balloon does not
close up. If you are using the Business Unit "Lock-up,"
that text must be legible. If it is not, you can opt to use the
Children's Signature alone, but put your business unit name in a prominent
location somewhere else on the page.
- The signature or Logo cannot be distorted in any way. Do not make it twirl or bounce across the window.
Do not distort the image to fit your layout.
- The signature must appear in the correct
colors for the web. See the Intranet
Design Style Guide for more detail.
- If you want to make the background transparent, be careful
that the integrity of the image is maintained. The Balloon should
not close up and the Children's logotype cannot get thinner.
- If you use a reverse application
of the signature with the Logo in turquoise and Children's in white,
the background must be black. It is acceptable to use a reverse
application of the signature all in white on a dark color background
other than black, but it is not the preferred usage.
- Do not put the signature on a cluttered background graphic or
photograph.
- Do not use the Logo as a bullet.
- Do not insert the Logo into another graphic or animation.
- The Logo can never appear without the Children's logotype, unless another
complete signature is also on the page. This Logo must be five times
the size of the Logo in the signature and should be cropped in accordance
to the super graphic guidelines.
- Any other identity or headline text, such as program name,
site title, or department name, cannot look like a logo. It must appear
in one of the versions of MyriadMM or Helvetica/Arial (the accepted
fonts for headlines). It can be caps and lower case, all caps or all
lower case, or large and small caps. It cannot be placed on a curve
or use different colors, font sizes, font styles or font weights for
individual words or letters. It cannot be combined with another graphic
element.
