Intranet Objective

The purpose of "ChildNet" is to improve business practices and communicate a common vision of Children's to its employees. The following standards and guidelines seek to promote the construction of intuitive, efficient pages that are easily navigated via hyperlinks, provide a consistent user experience and simplify the creation of content for the intranet.
Children's Brand Strategy
Intranet Policies:

  • "ChildNet" is for internal use only. The intranet is a privilege solely for Children's employees. No portion of the intranet may be reproduced without permission of the content owner.
  • Only employees designated by their manager are allowed to publish on the intranet.
  • Business or work groups must turn in the Notification of Intent to Develop an Intranet Sub-site to Information Services.
  • The corporate home page will be the intranet announcements page.
  • Every content page must follow or use one of the designated templates.
  • Content pages will have white background
  • Business or work groups will review their content every 30 days and update as necessary.
  • Each intranet document must have the name of a contact person and the date of the last update.
  • Provide a method for visitors to contact you at least on your home page, if not also on section pages.
  • Information Systems will monitor the intranet to ensure compliance with company policies, standards and legal requirements. Materials published in Inside Children's must comply with legal regulations regarding Copyrights & Trademarks.
  • Web pages should be developed for the minimum resolution 800X600 but should expand to take full advantage of users having larger settings.
  • If plug-ins are needed to view a page, they should be provided for download on your site.
  • The preferred server provider is within Children's's Information Technology department. Contact Information Services if you wish an alternative server host.
  • Departments and work groups are encouraged to use a web developer from the internal Childrens IS department. email Greg Guth to discuss your project.
  • A sub-site must be submitted to Information Services for approval at least two weeks before the expected launch. Review Can Your Intranet Site Pass This Test?
ChildNet is for internal use only. The intranet is a tool solely for the employees. No portion of the intranet may be reproduced without permission of the content owner. Use discretion when sharing information outside of your work group and Children's.
