  • All pages on the intranet must use the MainFrameset with the approved header as provided with the templates.
  • All sub-sites must comply with the corporate identification standards. Refer to the Corporate Identification Manual for details. Contact Douglas DoNascimento (214.456.5311) for information on obtaining the manual. Also refer to Using Children's Signature on Web Pages.
  • When selecting stock photography, care should be taken to ensure that the image has not been overused or been used by sub-sites owned by other departments. Graphics used should reflect Children's (photographs of our facility, employees, etc.).
  • Images can be used as hyper-links, but include a text hyper-link to accompany the image.
  • Text should wrap around images to maximize the space used.
  • Limit usage of animated GIF graphics. Studies have shown that animated GIFs compete with textual information, making it more difficult for users to easily read and concentrate on the content.
  • Limit the number of times an animated image repeats to 5.
  • Graphics with copyrights owned by anyone other than Children's cannot be used unless permission is obtained. Written permission is required for use of another company's logo. A copy of the permission must be submitted to the Web administrator.
  • Have you secured permission for any copyrighted photos, graphics, music, video, documents? Is the permission for Web use? Unless you are the author/creator, assume that all materials you plan to use are copyrighted until you check it out.
  • Video files can require a great amount of bandwidth. Usage of video files must be approved in advance.
  • All new or upgraded plug-ins must be approved.
  • Text: Please refer to the Style Sheet Glossary within the Design Style Guide.
  • Graphics and page design should be compatible with the ChildNet design and should observe Best Practices for Web Design.
